Rancho Bonito

This unique barn has stories to tell.  It is located near Mountainair, New Mexico, once know as a hub for the production of pinto beans.  A relocated Indiana farmer and entrepreneur, to service the needs of the pinto bean industry built the barn.  He also built a hotel with a restaurant and a large implement store to sell and service farm machinery.  His barn was originally used to house the animals needed to supply the restaurant with milk and meat.  The decorating was his successful venture into creativity.   He cut out shapes, painted them from farm machinery paint, such as International Harvester red, and then created images completely covering the exterior of his barn.

The interior structure features a unique approach of twisted wires to hold the barn together!  One must see it to appreciate it.
