Lloyd Family Barn

This farm has been in the Lloyd family since 1850. The barn was built in 1890 to 1900, paid for by the sales of their popcorn crops.

Many other buildings surround this old barn: a smokehouse, an earlier barn from 1856 that was converted to a corncrib, an icehouse, and an outhouse. As farming opportunities changed, so did the barn. At one time it was converted to a chicken farm with animals on multiple levels.

Over the years the farm has gradually retired; today it is quiet and beautiful. The barn is no longer in use.

I set up my plein air oil painting supplies very early one September morning in 2010. The cool morning light and the cast shadows were spectacular. It was a very exciting and productive morning. The canvas size is 18 x 24 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
