M. Burke Family Barn

On a ridge just above Snake Creek sets the Burke family barn. It stands out above a low flood plain of farmland and is surrounded by a grove of trees. The barn was built from sawmill-cut, notched and pegged timbers. Some of them are quite hefty.

It is a large gable barn with a central pass-through highlighted by a large wagon door on each gable end. A few large foundation stones are still visible. The exact construction date is unknown, but it has been in service for many years.

The warm morning light cast some very interesting and undulating tree shadows on the east side of this red barn. A variety of red hues danced between the shadows and the lights. The gable end presented slightly cooler notes of red. It was an exciting challenge to paint. The oil painting was completed in my studio in December 2015. I used an 18 x 30 inch panel.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
