Gilbert-McGinnis Barn

This gable barn was built circa 1900 and has gone through changes and additions over its many years.

On the exterior of the barn, above the door, is an old worn hand-painted sign that reads "GILBERT BARN". The Gilbert family was the previous owner and had at one time used the barn and farm for their Chrysanthemum flower business. The barn is located within market range of Indianapolis where the flowers were presumably sold.

The fall light and colors were captivating on this October day in 2010. I set up my plein air oil painting supplies very early one morning and relished the first light and shadows undulating across the barn's surfaces. I painted a 16 x 20 inch canvas.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
