Burton Family Barn

Gently rolling hills carved out by rambling creeks slice through this eastern portion of Morgan County, creating a bucolic setting for this barn.

Although the age is unknown, the older part of the barn features large sawmill-cut timbers pegged together. As farming trends grew and changed, additions were needed.

A shed-roofed addition was added to each side and a glazed block silo was placed on one end. Although the barn is no longer used for animals, it is meticulously maintained and is very impressive to behold.

In the fall of 2015, I spent a bright clear morning observing and gathering the materials needed for a studio painting. The brilliance of the reds glowed in the light and also in the cast shadows. I oil painted the Burton Family Barn in December of that year on a 15 x 24 inch canvas.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
