Glendale Farm Barn

This gable-roofed bank barn was built soon after the Kepler family home was built in 1864. The original barn was a standard rectangular shape. As farming needs expanded, Mr. Kepler had another barn moved in and attached. The addition greatly expanded the barn's capacity and turned the barn into an L-shaped barn with three levels.

Wear and tear on the exterior paint camouflaged the original designs painted on the barn. It was formerly a red barn with carefully painted white trim along the roofline and wrapped around each corner. The name GLENDALE FARM was painted in a pleasing arch on the gable end facing the road.

The barn was mainly used for sheep. The surrounding area is quite hilly and rocky. Mr. Kepler felt the land was much more compatible for sheep than other farm. In early 2007, it was decided that the barn would be torn down and the original family home sold with a few acres. Soon after this painting was completed, the barn was destroyed.

Snow was clutching at survival when I set up my oil painting supplies in March 2007. It was late afternoon and I chose a 16 x 20 inch canvas. It was still cold!

Since the painting of this structure, the barn has been destroyed.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
