Moss Family Barn

In 1864, during the Civil War, Elias H. Moss purchased land near Logansport and with the clay found on the land, built the fine brick home that proudly stands today on this lovely farm. Shirley and S.A. Moss lll, great grandchildren of Elias H. Moss, reside in the home on this historic farm. Moss built a four-bay barn immediately after the house was completed. The timbers used in its construction were harvested from the 35 acres of hardwood that remain part of the farm today, making this barn a homegrown creation.

Maintenance and additions to this barn have kept it a vital part of this active farm. Cattle continue to use this barn and the upper level is still used for hay and straw.

It was a perfect fall day with a dash of clouds when I set up my easel and completed an oil painting of this impressive barn. The variety of reds was a challenge, but enjoyable. The intensity of the reds in the cast shadows can only be observed on location. It was October 2011 and I filled an 18 x 24 inch canvas.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
