McCready Farmall Barn

Positioned well away from the highway, this barn proudly displays its favorite tractor on its arched roof. Asphalt composite shingles were popular at the time in and around Cass County. They featured pictures and words created in a variety of colors for creative roofers.

This early 20th century milk barn is 35 x 52 feet, with one centrally placed ventilator on the roof. A small milk house is strategically placed on the end of the barn, easily accessible for the daily visit of the milk truck. The barn, well used for many years, is now retired.

The vista surrounding this barn added beauty and significance that demanded to be part of the painting. The fall colors add warmth that balances with the cool reflected light within the shadowed north face of the barn. I set up a 16 x 20 inch canvas for an oil painting early one morning in October 2011. The barn sets higher on the picture plane, which emphasizes its lofty location.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
