Pound-Smith Family Barn

When Hezekiah Pound established this farm in 1817, he would have seen opportunity and beauty before him. it has been an active farm since then and is a Hoosier Homestead Farm. During construction of this barn in 1904 and 1905, a tornado lifted the barn from the foundation. It had to be repositioned before construction continued.

This timber-frame barn has pegged timbers. Four sturdy lightning rods grace the roof's ridge and several still have their glass globes. Additions and changes were made to the barn over time. It is well- maintained and active.

It was early summer 2015, when I stumbled upon this barn in its peaceful setting. The light glowed on the gable end and the cast shadows held an array of reflected light and color. I completed the 15 x 24 inch oil painting in my studio in October 2015.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
