Beelor Hill Farm Barn

The age of this gable barn is unknown; however, the home on the farm was built in 1880. Hand-hewn and pegged timbers, mixed in with logs and milled timbers, suggest the barn was built around the 1880s. It has gone through upgrades and changes over the barn's many years as farming needs have evolved. The farm was very large for its time, at approximately 200 acres. The current owners kept the original name of Beelor Hill Farm.

The owner and builder made a deliberate decision to construct a barn for efficiency and also with aesthetics in mind. This barn is spectacular. While traveling -as this barn comes into view- it can take one's breath away.

This barn is quite striking, and an early morning painting was going to show it best. I set up my supplies very early and completed a plein air oil painting. It was August 2011. The reflected light in the cast shadows produced the most stunning range of cool colors. The scene required an 18 x 24 inch canvas.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
