Bryant-Eveland Barn

In 1846, eighty acres, including the land where this barn rests, were granted to Zophar W. Bryant. He proceeded to establish a very productive farm.

In 1870, one-half acre of land was sold to Johnson Township for $3.00 to build the Possum Trot School. The schoolmaster lived on the farm for many years.

This barn, built late in the 19th century, was not the original barn on the farm. A tremendous amount of time, timber and expertise went into the construction of this efficient home for animals. Over time, as farming needs changed, additions were made. It is still home to a herd of cattle.

On a cold and snow-covered January day in 2015, I photographed and sketched this barn. It was late in the day; the light was changing in the sky and on the west face of the barn. I completed the oil painting, size 18 x 24 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
