Fairclough Family Barn
This eye-catching barn is located near the South Fork of Wildcat Creek, which may have contributed to the fertile farming land in this area of Clinton County. This gambrel-roofed barn exhibits pegged-timber frame construction, sawmill cut. The massive and sturdy timbers uphold the expansive 78 x 33 foot barn.
A huge hayloft over all provided immense storage room for the feed needed for the many animals housed in this barn. As farming trends changed, so did this barn. It has been enlarged and altered to accommodate cattle and hogs over its many years of use. This barn is an important part of the Fairclough family farm. It is well cared for.
Late afternoon in August, 2014 was an opportune time to paint. I set up my oil painting easel on the edge of a field and painted a canvas size 12 x 16 inches. The shadows presented subtle variations in shades of gray with hints of blues from the sky.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
