Buckley Homestead Barn
This barn is an integral part of the Buckley Homestead County Park Living History Farm. The barn, home and many other buildings are available to tour most of the year.
Positioned on the side of a gently sloping hill, this bank barn was designed as a dairy barn when built in 1916. It replaced the original barn that had burned. Charles Buckley incorporated the latest technology into his new barn: poured cement lower-level walls and floor, watering bowls for the cows, a manure removal system and the glazed tile silo.
The upper barn has trap doors and grain chutes for efficiency. The threshing floor in the center of the upper level was built double thick to accommodate the weight of the threshing equipment.
The spring morning was a bit hazy, diffusing the light and causing subtle pastel hues to modulate on this white barn. It was 2005 and I set up and oil painted on a 16 x 20 inch canvas.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
