Faulstich Family Farms Barn

The Faulstich family acquired this barn and farm in 1940. It is not a large barn, but features four unusual ventilation shafts with cupolas, one near each corner of the barn's roof. This helped to achieve a more comfortable environment for the milk cows and other livestock. The ventilation shafts were built into the walls leading from the ground floor.

Later additions and changes were made to the barn to reflect the growth and changes in farming needs. The Faulstich family has worked hard to maintain this unusual barn, farm and surrounding fields. Currently, the barn is bordered by land in Indiana's Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program. The gentle swish of swaying grasses and chirping sparrows surround this family treasure with their unique natural beauty.

My goal was to capture the warm glow on the gable end and also the cooler reds on the side and the unusual colors in the shadows. It was a pleasant June morning in 2005 and I set up a vertical canvas 16 x 12 inches for this oil painting.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
