Uhde-McFadin Family Farm Barn
Walk inside this large pass-through gambrel-roofed barn and painted on an interior wall you can see big faded black letters that state, "Built July 1920'. In the same family for five generations, Herman and Christine Uhde purchased the land in the early 1900s.
In the fall of 1917, trees from the farm were harvested for lumber to be used for construction of the barn. The head carpenter was paid eighty cents an hour and workers were paid twenty cents an hour. A large pole and winch combination was also used in the construction of this barn.
Currently, Woody and Theresa McFadin, descendants of the Uhde family, live on the farm and use the barn as much as possible in their farming operation.
I completed a small plein air oil painting in May 2005. Then in February 2006, I used the plein air painting as a guide for this 18 x 36 inch oil painting.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
