Fetcher Barn

Large sections of Gibson County are comprised of gently rolling hills and fertile farmland. Many of the earlier farms and barns are gone, replaced by large tracts of farmland uninterrupted by fences or farmsteads uninterrupted by fences or farmsteads. Finding an early barn was difficult in this county.

Finally, I found this small attractive barn. The age is unknown. The center section, which appears to be older, has a hayloft over it. It has two rows of wooden cattle stanchions facing each other, but they are no longer in use. At one time the barn was also used for horses and mules.

October is a beautiful time of year to be painting in southern Indiana. The early morning sun cast a dancing tree shadow across the front of the barn. The reds varied from rich darks to lighter and warmer hues. I set up my easel and completed this 12 x 24 inch oil painting in October 2007.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
