Kolb Family Homestead Barns

It would be difficult to find a more beautiful setting for a farm. It rests upon a high ridge above sweeping fields with a view along the Patoka River in Gibson County.

All three barns on the farm have gone through restoration, some more than others, and are now back in service on this active farm-to-fork organic farm. The barns were built around 1910 and believed to have been finished within a few years.

Currently, the farm produces organic vegetables, herbs, fruits and berries as well as heritage pigs. Chickens and ducks are being added to the farm, which is expanding the farm-to-fork venture.

Meeting barn owners and farm families was an added treasure not anticipated when I set out to fulfill this project. The devotion and appreciation of family and history permeates this family. I was fortunate to have had that lovely day with them.

Gathering the information, sketches and photographs for this barn and farm complex took a whole day. I decided on a distant vantage point to accentuate the beauty of this farm and its surroundings. I completed the oil painting in my studio in June 2015. It is 18 × 24 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
