Galloway Farms Barn
This small gable barn is buried deep within the natural beauty of Fountain County. George A. and Laura Galloway, ancestors of the current owners, built this barn in 1899. The lower area consists of stables for horses and their required tack.
The middle level is accessed by two steep earthen ramps that lead up to a bridge, one on each gable end. Each bridge rests on brick pillars built out from the foundation.
The barn is still being used. Currently, it is a home for horses. Grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren of George and Laura have played in and around this barn. It remains a powerful glue holding the family together.
Spending time with a barn and its owners was an essential part of my project, a necessary step in being able to capture the character and essence of a place. The two horses seen in the oil painting call this barn home. They needed to be included. The reflected light, within the cast shadows was a challenge but added so much to the final image. In May 2015, I translated the information onto a canvas size 18 x 24 inches.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
