Lisa Truman Barn
As if planted on the face of the hill’s crest, this bank barn has the best vantage point on the farm, complete with picturesque views of gently rolling hills and valleys.
In the stable area, farm workers could move faster and more efficiently during feeding time thanks to a central work section. A grain chute from the upper level delivers grain here to be distributed by buckets to the hungry animals.
The upper area of the barn has an earthen ramp on each side allowing easy access into the pass-through area. With the inclusion of the upper haylofts, this barn could hold 2,500 bales of hay and vast quantities of grain.
Over its many years, the barn has served nicely for all varieties of farming including cattle, brooding chickens and a piggery. Currently, it is a home to a menagerie of animals including sheep, goats, fancy chickens, turkeys and a donkey, and probably more I didn't see.
I set up my plein air oil painting supplies on the county road to get the best perspective on this barn. It was a cloudy morning so the colors are softer and the shadows are minimal. I completed the painting in July 2014. Canvas size is 18 x 24 inches.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
