Noe-Garrett Family Barn
This English-style barn was built in 1906. In 1947, the barn came into the possession of Andrew and Opal Noe, ancestors of the current owners. The barn is constructed of pegged hand-hewn timbers mixed in with timbers that were sawmill cut.
The barn was originally focused on dairy with the entire main floor devoted to the maintenance and milking of the dairy herd. As farming changed over time, the needs of the barn also changed. Through its many years it has housed horses, sows and served in the job of raising hogs for market.
The family still considers this barn an important part of their history. Although no longer used for animals, it remains a well-maintained, functioning member of the ancestral family. A family wedding was held in the barn in 2014.
It was a cold winter day when I found this barn. The family was very excited about me doing a painting; however, it was too chilly to work on location. I photographed the barn, made sketches and took notes. In April 2015, I completed a studio oil painting, 18 x 24 inches.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
