Normandy Barn, State Fairgrounds

The Herman C. and Elonora Krannert family were the original owners of this barn. It was part of a large farm complex established as Normandy Farms in 1934, and consisted of 600 acres. Elonora named the farm; it reminded her of the beautiful rolling countryside, farms and forests of Normandy, France. Historically, the farm was in an area known as Trader's Point in northwest Marion County.

In 2008 the barn was carefully moved to the north side of the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. It is situated on the west side of Pioneer Village.

This barn has been carefully modified to accommodate a wide range of events and educational displays related to farming and farm history in Indiana.

I set up my oil painting easel during the state fair in August 2010. It was a bit cloudy but the light offered some unusual colors in the shadows. Antique tractors and fairgoers surrounded the barn. Canvas size is 16 x 20 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
