Phelps-Klise Family Barn

The history of this family and farm is significant. In 1853 the Phelps family, ancestors of the current residents, established the farm when roads were few and most were rough trails.

The exact construction date for the barn is unknown, but clues lead to the mid to late 1800s. This four-bay gable-roofed barn is beautifully created from hand-hewn and pegged timbers. Through the years the barn was altered as farming needs changed.

The family is mindful of their heritage and has taken great effort to restore other parts of the farm including the windmill. It is now happily working and pumping water for all the farming needs.

In July 2014, I set up my oil painting supplies late one afternoon. I was eager to capture the light and shadow colors on the barn's gable end. I chose a horizontal canvas size 12 x 24 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
