Phillip Schmidt Barn

Barns can reflect the many evolutionary changes experienced in farming through time. Such is the case with this barn. The interior structure includes very old notched logs, some with bark and a few hand-hewn and pegged timbers mixed in with sawmill-cut boards.

Although this barn doesn't portray stately elegance or stunning architectural flourishes, it has its own strength. Within its life, the barn has served through thick and thin. The barn's character, gained through time and exhibited in every scarred board, has its own unique beauty. My goal was to capture that uniqueness on the canvas.

It was October 2007 when I found and created a plein air oil painting of this unique barn. The canvas size is 8 x 16 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
