Sandra Thompson Barn

Little history is known about this attractive old barn with the unusual cupola. It was possibly built in the late 1800s, with changes made through the years as farming demands changed.

Time and effort went into sculpted details that still decorate this old barn. Centered on the roof's ridge is a very eye-pleasing and decorated cupola. This barn is no longer the center of farming activity.

The afternoon of August 8, 2009, presented some rapidly changing weather. I set up my plein air oil painting supplies while a stiff breeze started blowing in a line of thunderheads. Before I was able to finish, a torrential rain caught me in the act and put an end to my painting session. The horizontal light streaming under the summer storm caused some very unusual color changes. The light shimmered and sparkled on the wet edges of the barn. I had a damp but unharmed 12 x 24 inch canvas.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
