Shady Grove Farm Barn

Years ago a local ice cream shop was the benefactor of the fresh dairy cream that came from this more than 100-year old barn. It was very busy place during those days.

The Barnes family was the original barn owners. In 1952, Earl Bryant acquired the farm and made changes to accommodate his farming needs. Above all, he developed a herd of award-winning Polled Herefords in this well-maintained barn.

The Bryant family remains on this farm, honored to be the caretakers through history. Each fall they celebrate their farm and barn with barn parties including music, games, bonfires and hayrides.

The farm is also home to a variety of other original farm buildings such as a milk house, out house, chicken house, the family home and an old garage built for the Model T.

I set up my easel to complete a plein air oil painting. I wanted to capture the calming and peaceful essence I found on this welcoming farm. It was a late afternoon in May 2014. The intense reds on the barn took on a much cooler violet red in the shadow shapes. The canvas size is 12 x 24 inches.

All the barn paintings are for sale.  Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
