Wood Springs Farm Barn
The rolling hills and curving roads that led me back to this secluded farm and barn made this "find" even more enjoyable. A person has to cross the beautiful Camp Fork Creek to get to the barn. An added delight, the creek meanders through the farm adding calming sounds to the environment.
The age of this early dairy barn is unknown. The sturdy interior still shows remnants of whitewashing. The farm and barn have recently gotten a fresh start. A young family has taken over and has started on plans to restore the barn and farm. Their young daughter named their “new” house, Wood Springs Farm.
It was an event-filled plein air oil painting day in October 2015. The menagerie of animals kept me occupied, especially the rooster who wanted to chase and peck me. Little did he know that I have extensive childhood experience with roosters! The turkeys kept checking in. I think they felt qualified to critique my progress. To top it off, the breeze turned into a stiff wind and my 18 x 30 inch canvas took a nosedive. It landed face down into fresh grass clippings!
Note: Once the oil paint is dry, grass, bugs, twigs or whatever, will easily brush off.
All the barn paintings are for sale. Please contact Gwen to find out if the painting(s) you are interested in are sold or available.
